This panel examines the relationship between humans and machines and considers what may happen in the future when robots are capable of directing their own evolution.

Speakers include:

Profesor Noel Sharkey Professor of AI and Robotics at the University of Sheffield. He has held a number of research and teaching positions in the UK (Essex, Exeter and Sheffield) and the USA (Yale, Stanford, Berkeley). He is also creator of Robot Wars.

Rich Walker Technical Director of Shadow Robots, whose expertise is in robotics research and development.

Klaus -Peter Zauner Senior Lecturer in the Science and Engineering of Natural Systems Group of the School of Electronics and Computer Science at the University of Southampton.

Ian Pearson Futurologist who tracks developments across the whole field of technology and society, figuring out where it is all going next, and how that will affect our everyday lives.

James Auger Designer who explores the role of technology in society and how it affects our behaviour, our relationships or our quality of life.
