Even in a world populated entirely by mechanical beings Rodney Copperbottom is considered a genius inventor. Rodney dreams of two things, making the world a better place and meeting his idol, the master inventor Bigweld. On his journey he encounters Cappy, a beautiful executive 'bot with whom Rodney is instantly smitten, the nefarious corporate tyrant Ratchet who locks horns with Rodney, and a group of misfit 'bots known as the Rusties, led by Fender and Piper Pinwheeler.

The scientists bringing KASPAR to the festival are pioneering researchers in robot social learning and imitation whose research interests include Human-Robot Interaction, Social Robotics, Socially Intelligent Agents and Artificial Life.

KASPAR Kinesics and Synchronisation in Personal Assistant Robotics) is a child-sized robot being used in human-robot interaction studies in the context of cognitive and developmental robotics and assistive technology, including studies of the possible therapeutic and educational benefits of ‘robotic mediators’ for children with autism.
