Resident Evil: Retribution is the fifth instalment in the massively successful Resident Evil film franchise, based on the hugely popular Capcom survival horror video game series Resident Evil. This official novelisation sees Alice fighting alongside a resistance movement in her continuing battle against the Umbrella Corporation and the Undead. While Shirley's book sticks pretty pretty close to the storyline of the film, there are a number of differences - new characters that aren't in the film, a bit less action, a bit more characterisation - but it all fits very neatly into the Resident Evil cannon and there are still plenty of monsters, plenty of zombies and overall it's a fast, furious and fun read even if you've already seen the movie.
John Shirley is a critically acclaimed cyberpunk, sci-fi and horror writer whose stories have been included in three 'Year's Best' anthologies. His novels include 'Everything is Broken', the cyberpunk trilogy 'A Song Called Youth' (omnibus released in 2012), 'Bleak History', 'Demons', 'City Come A-Walkin' and 'The Other End'. His short story collection 'Black Butterflies' won the Bram Stoker Award and was chosen by Publisher's Weekly as one of the best books of the year. His new story collection is entitled 'In Extremis: The Most Extreme Short Stories of John Shirley'.
Resident Evil: Retribution is a Screen Gems release of a Constantin Film and Davis Films/Impact Pictures Production. Anderson also produced with Jeremy Bolt, Robert Kulzer, Don Carmody and Samuel Hadida. Martin Moszkowicz served as Executive Producer.
