48 Hour Film Challenge Awards

48 Hour Film Challenge 2013

For five years we have asked the question, 'Can you make a movie in 2 days?' Over 300 teams of filmmakers take the challenge each year and to date we have had over 700 shorts films.

We have had some great success stories too, Gareth Edwards, winner in 2008 is working on a blockbuster version of GODZILLA, Liam Garvo who kicktstarted his feature, THE FITZROY with a team built from his 48hr challenge colleagues, and there are many more stories.

The point of the challenge, when we started, was to promote science fiction filmmaking in the UK and we are extremely proud of what it has become; the single biggest event of its kind in the world.

Many of the films from previous years are online at http://www.youtube.com/themultiverse.

This year our jury is headed by legendary producer and director, Guillermo Del Toro. He is joined by actor Benedict Cumberbatch (Star Trek II, Sherlock); Indian film director, Dev Benegal; Annalee Newitz, Editor-in-chief of io9.com, the world’s most important science and geek blog; festival director for the Haapsulu Fantastic Festival, Maria Reinup; and Oscar-winning producer, Brad Wyman (Monster).

Join us for a screening of a selection of our favourites, and the ten shortlisted films from this year’s challenge. We will also be announcing the winners and awarding the prizes.

Come along to the bar from 7pm for the Director’s Guild of Great Britain’s networking event.

The event is supported by Canon, Camberwell Studios, The Multiverse and Vertigo Films.
