48 Hour Challenge Awards

sci-fi-london 48hr film challenge

THE SCI-FI-LONDON 48 HOUR FILM CHALLENGE and FLASH FICTION CHALLENGE

Back in 2008 we launched our 48HR FILM CHALLENGE – to make a 5 min short in two days. The first winner was Gareth Edwards, who went on to direct GODZILLA and is now working on ROGUE ONE, a spin off Star Wars movie.

Since then we have had over 1200 new sci-fi films made and some amazing work achieved. It just goes to show that you really don’t need huge budgets and special effects to make a good sci-fi film.

Three years ago we also started a 48HR FLASH FICTION CHALLENGE in association with UrbanFantasist.com tasking people to write around 1500 words in a weekend, the same weekend as the films are
being made.

You can read the stories and see the films on our website and watchscifi.com. We hope you take part next year...

The winners of this year’s challenges are announced on WEDNESDAY 4 MAY, 2016. A big thank you to all those who took part and especially to our juries:
