Horror fans were recently treated to The ABCs of Death , an anthology of short films by well-known directors of the genre. Fool Japan takes the same concept to present different aspects of Japanese culture.
The directors delight in mirroring back the misconceptions the West has about Japanese pop culture; geishas, ninjas, karaoke, sushi, giant robots, sailorsuited girls, and even giant girls.
Nothing is sacred as the filmmakers employ diverse filmmaking techniques, which include live action, animation and schlocky special effects, to subvert all the stereotypes that Westerners think are cool and cute about Japan.
SCI-FI-LONDON wouldn’t be complete without at least one bizarre film from Japan and this one is both E for educational and C for comedic, but it is mostly brought to you by the letters W, T and F.
