Movement + Location

In this gently paced, well-acted feature, director Alexis Boling lays bare modernday relationships and responsibilities. Set in Brooklyn, NY, Kim works for an organisation that helps feed and house the homeless.

She is also trying to make a home, having arrived in Brooklyn from several hundred years in the future. She was supposed to have met up with her husband in the present but he never showed up from the future.

Kim’s secret risks being revealed when police ask her to help runaway teen Rachel who, Kim quickly learns, is also from the future. As both women take tentative steps towards new friendships and relationships Kim struggles to keep her past life from destroying the one she has here.

Like London, New York can be a lonely place, and the film explores the hesitancy people can feel when considering making a connection in a new environment.

With a fantastic and often creepy 1970s synth score, a film to delight those who enjoyed PRIMER (Shane Carruth 2004).  The film also has a track especially written by Imani Coppola - and you can hear it right here!
