Tor UK is thrilled to announce that Reviver, the first novel in a three books series by debut author Seth Patrick, has had the option pre-empted by
Legendary Pictures, the company behind such blockbusters as
Dark Knight Rises,
Inception and
Watchmen.
Alex Hedlund and Jillian Zaks will be overseeing for Legendary with Brendan Deneen producing for Macmillan Films. The deal was done by Sylvie Rabineau at RWSG Agency on behalf of Luigi Bonomi.
Reviver, the first novel in an upcoming trilogy which Tor will publish in June 2013, is said to be a terrifically fast-paced supernatural thriller that focuses on a small group of people who have the talent of pulling the recently deceased back into their bodies for a short space of time. The lead character, Jonah Millar, works for the Forensic Revival Service, using his gift to bring victims back in order to implicate their killers. One day, while reviving the victim of a brutal murder, Jonah perceives a sinister presence watching them from the other side and when he starts to investigate, what he uncovers threatens to turn his world upside down.
Legendary currently has an interesting slate in production including Godzilla, The Seventh Son, Guillermo del Toro's Pacific Rim and Zack Snyder's Superman movie, Man of Steel.
Seth Patrick was born in Northern Ireland. An Oxford mathematics graduate, he works as a computer game developer at Sega. He currently lives in West Sussex with his wife and two young children. Reviver is his first novel.
