The festival is coming!

SFL12

We are so excited about this year's programme but are keeping all the detail under wraps just a little longer. In the meantime here are a couple of snippets!

Opening night

Byzantium
BYZANTIUM The story centres on two mysterious women, Eleanor (Saorise Ronan – THE HOST, HANNA) and Clara (Gemma Arterton – PRINCE OF PERSIA, QUANTUM OF SOLACE) who seek refuge in a run-down coastal resort. Clara meets lonely Noel (Daniel May), who provides shelter in his deserted guesthouse, Byzantium. Schoolgirl Eleanor befriends Frank (Caleb Landry-Jones – ANTI-VIRAL) and tells him their lethal secret; they were born 200 years ago and survive on human blood.

As knowledge of their secret spreads, their past catches up on them with deathly consequence. We have seen a lot of takes on the classic vampire tale and few of them dare to play with myth and method, and do so successfully. However, Neil Jordan is no stranger to the breed, and once again employs a fresh approach that delivers a unique take on bloodlust.

The script by Moira Buffini (based on her play of the same name) keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout!
