It’s remarkable what can happen when a truly groundbreaking visual treat is produced; it can remain in the eyes of its admirers for many years, whilst continuing to attract new fans.
This year, Katsuhiro Otomo’s Akira returns to the big screen to celebrate 25 years since the release of this masterpiece. This universally acclaimed, groundbreaking anime had a ripple effect and single-handedly started the anime revolution (thankfully, otherwise without Akira how would the world of anime be today? Well lets not think about that). Still acting an influence to this day, you'll find that Akira has influenced the works of those such as James Cameron, Ridley Scott, and Daft Punk.
And, our friends at Stratford Picturehouse are screening Akira. So pop down to the lovely Stratford Picturehouse this Saturday, 13 July at 8.30. This is a real treat that needs to be seen on the big screen, over and over again! And where better than at the home of SCI-FI-LONDON. So gather your friends, you know they'll want to join you! Nab your tickets while you can!
Ticket prices Adults: £8.50 | Students/Concession: £6.50 | Picturehouse Members: £5.50
