BFI Film Science: Future Human

Man Who Fell to Earth
Following on from SCI-FI-LONDON's Life in 2050 theme and the BFI's own Film Science programme, the venerable Southbank institution is running a programme with a focus on sci-fi and visions of utopia and dystopia.

Running throughout July and August the series will show how cinema has long striven to imagine the future, near and distant, but what would it mean to live in the societies depicted in such cinematic speculations? Films include classics from around the world, such as Fahrenheit 451,Terminator, Invasion of the Body Snatchers, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Solaris and George Lucas' THX 1138, along with films from the archives such as Aelita: Queen of Mars, the first Russian sci-fi movie with a new score by Minima. There will also be talks and panel discussions.

Full details of the programme can be found on the BFI website.
