James Cameron's Avatar had such a strong effect on some fans that they expressed suicidal feelings because the world of Pandora wasn't real. Soon they'll have a chance to actually visit Pandora, or at least as close to it as the Disney Imagineers can get with Earth's physics.
The Disney Parks blog brought us the update of the image above and the clip below, which features Cameron himself looking really closely at Disney's models and concept art. He said:
"From the details in the plants to the production and design, extraordinary thought and care has gone into this entire world. The teams have really created something special, and it’s not going to be like anything else."
Construction began at the start of last year and Pandora: The Land of Avatar will open in Disney's Animal Kingdom Park in Florida in 2017. Avatar 2 will be released at Christmas 2017, with 3 and 4 to follow in 2018 and 2019.
