Ready for it? - The 48hr challenge returns

April 12th is the date for the next 48hr film challenge.
With a great jury, you best get planning!
For those of you who have enured it before, well you know the drill, the thrills, spills and torment of it. But always remember, win or lose - you made a film in 2 days!

So, the next challenge is gearing up to be our biggest yet. We have a brilliant jury again and are lining up some cool prizes and perks for taking part.

48 Hour Film Challenge Jury 2014

For those of you new to the challenge, it is simple. You sign up for free (the form will go live in the next few weeks) and decide to either come to the BFI Southbank in London or receive the brief via SMS and Email.

We will give you a TITLE for the film you are going to make, a LINE or two of DIALOGUE, a list of PROPS that must be seen on screen and an optional SCIENCE THEME. You then have two days to make a complete 5 minute film!

The SCIENCE THEMES are once again coming from readers of NEW SCIENTIST, one of our media partners. These may or may not spark a cool idea for your story.

Our advice, as always, is to not try and write a story and leverage the material we give you into it. Most of the shortlisted films were written in the first few hours of the challenge. It really is amazing what you can come up with under pressure and with no time for egos to get in the way.

We do however suggest you start talking to crew, actors and locations about permission, availability and so on.

We are really looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the 48 hours.

Best of luck and check back soon for more news. Also, don't forget to join our 48hr facebook page - we post news about registration and prizes here first. https://www.facebook.com/SFL.48hour.film.challenge
