48 Hour Challenge Winners

On Saturday 12 April we challenged writers, storytellers and filmmakers to create new science fiction works in a weekend.

We gave them:

  • the TITLE of the work they had to create
  • a line of DIALOGUE they had to include
  • a PROP/ACTION that we had to screen (for the filmmakers)
  • an optional SCIENCE THEME or IDEA, created by readers of New Scientist magazine.

We ran three challenges simultaneously, a FILMMAKING challenge, a FLASH FICTION writing challenge and a Youtube STORYTELLING challenge.

We were blown away with the quality of the completed works and it was really tough to pick winners from the entries.

So, without further ado, here are the winners:

THE SCI-FI-LONDON 48HR FLASH FICTION CHALLENGE:

SILENT STORM by Erin Johnson.    [download it here]

THE SCI-FI-LONDON 48HR YOUTUBE STORYTELLING CHALLENGE:

SHIFT by Gareth Topping.

and finally...

THE SCI-FI-LONDON 48HR FILM CHALLENGE:

  • 1st Place: THE MARCH by Team Mission Media/Black Ant
  • 2nd Place:  BACK ISSUE by Team The Creepy Guys
  • 3rd Place:  LIFE EXTERNAL by Team Bokeh

Well done to everyone involved, all our sponsors and supporters and the jury!
