Dead Space 2: 10 days to go!

SFL previews the biggest Sci-Fi game of 2011.
With only 10 days to go until EA release the biggest Sci-Fi game of 2011, SFL got to grips with the scariest demo ever encountered and learnt that space is full of blood thirsty, screeching Necromorphs and that Isaac Clarke is a much braver human being than we will ever be!

Dead Space 2 is the next chapter in the huge hit series and follows engineer Isaac Clarke who after waking up from a coma, has his work cut out if he is going to survive the deadly infection and stop it spreading throughout space.

Dead Space 2
Not only is he battling dementia whilst having visions of his dead ex-girlfriend, he’s on the run from the government and has swarms of screaming, slashing, acid spewing, Necromorphs to deal with along the way.

The demo – currently available on Xbox Live and PlayStation Network - is a blood curdling battle of man versus the monstrous masses! Immediately you begin making your way through a frozen maze of display containers. If you don’t jump/squeal/poop/use a bad word during this section (or any section come to think of it) then you are made of granite. You’ll learn quickly that the awesome soundtrack and timing of when enemies appear are all cleverly designed to make you squeeze the life out of your controller and use every bullet you have within 10 seconds. Playing it cool will get you through! Our top tip is aim for the legs first then panic lots and try to use your massive metal space boot to split their heads open. Of course this won’t work on some of the more, shall we say, gigantic, more frightening enemies…

This time, as well as his trusty Plasma Cutter, there are some pretty impressive new tools at Isaac’s disposal including the hot Javelin Gun plus he has enhanced telekinesis ability which is perfect for picking up hacked limbs and chucking them back at the alien enemy.

Dead Space 2
There’s some rather nifty Zero-G physics based puzzle elements to the game where you have full 360 degrees controls whilst the environment is creepy and bleak with the stained carpets of the Church of Unitology being particularly memorable (not the kind of place that sells ‘greeting from’ postcards).

The action, horror, tension and terror feels relentless with grotesque creature lying around every corner and we love it! With the promise of online multiplayer where you can share the horror or strategically dismember your friends, Dead Space 2 looks to be an immense, sci-fi scare fest not to be missed. Not to be played on your own in the dark just before bedtime either!

Dead Space 2 is released 28th January 2011. For demos, trailers, artwork and more info on the game, visit the EA Dead Space 2 website
