Section 8: Prejudice

There’s nothing we like better here at SFL, than to goggle over screenshots of snazzy spacesuits or banging futuristic weapons. Happily, the latest Sci-Fi first person shooter Section 8: Prejudice from developers TimeGate Studios has plenty of both!

Section 8: Prejudice
Set in the distant future, the Human Race is enjoying the luxuries of interstellar travel and has colonized the galaxy. As in the original Section 8 game, which was hugely influenced, by Aliens and Blade Runner, in Prejudice you once again play determined and dedicated Captain Alex Corde who leads the 8th Armoured Infantry squad as they pursue the last of the resistance in the aftermath of the war with the Arm of Orion. Easier said than done as along the way in this new 5-hour, story driven single player campaign, they uncover a formidable new threat that has Alex questioning everything he’s been fighting for and could ultimately result in the end of humanity.
Section 8: Prejudice
The single player campaign, where every decision – from customizing equipment to activating team based objectives – drastically impacts the battlefield, has oodles of features, many of which fans of Section 8 will recognise and welcome back such as being able to  strategically spawn anywhere on the battlefield to assist allies (surprise!) or super speedy mobility (jetpacks yay!), both of which allow you to stylishly outmanoeuvre opponents. Customize ammo, equipment and tasty weapons including Assault rifles, Machine guns, Missile Launchers, Heavy Pistols, Shotguns, Sniper Rifles and our favourite, the devastating Plasma Cannon which is capable of inflicting seriously heavy damage on targets at all ranges to suit your playing style – job done!
Section 8: Prejudice
The single player mode with it’s deep level progression is also supported by online multiplayer for up to 32 players across a variety of maps and modes including; “Swarm” where  you and 3 allies defend a single Control Point against a plethora of attacking AI enemy units – think FPS mixed with Tower Defence type play and “Conquest” where control for the battlefield is strategically fought out between the 8th Armoured Infantry and the Arm of Orion. Relentless assaults on enemy bases with a variety of on-demand deployables and vehicles as well as limitless customisation opportunities await you.
Section 8: Prejudice
As if that wasn’t enough, all game modes and content will be playable offline plus players of the original game will be able to instantly unlock Aegis Armour and the Reactive Plating upgrades. There’s a bargain price tag attached too as XBLA owners will have to fork out a teeny tiny 1200MP. “We’re really excited to unveil loyalty rewards for players of the original Section 8. We think the very attractive 1200MP price of Prejudice will introduce the franchise to a ton of new fans,” said Adel Chaveleh, CEO of TimeGate Studios.  “We’re challenging the notion of just how much quality and value we can pack into a digital download first-person shooter. Our target is very simply to be the highest quality, best value digital FPS on the market. Prejudice is a full-retail-scoped product, so I’m sure our fans will be very happy with our price-point decision.” In addition, TimeGate plans to heavily support the community after launch by expanding Prejudice with a substantial downloadable content plan.

Prejudice will be available on Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox360 from 20th April, Windows PC through digital distribution outlets such as Steam and Games for Windows – LIVE on Demand from May and PlayStation3 through the PlayStation Network during the summer.
