SpecialEffect Video Game Art Auction

SpecialEffect signed art work auction
Following a short stay with Mr Boris at City Hall as part of the London Games Festival, the London Games Art exhibition is now being auctioned off, piece by piece, in a bid to raise thousands of pounds for the charity SpecialEffect. With over 100 rare exhibits of original concept art ranging from three signed pieces from Batman: Arkham City, two Fable 3 pieces signed by Peter Molyneux and the artists, a signed Metal Gear Solid ‘Raiden’ canvass, plus pieces from Tomb Raider, Dishonored, Moshi Monsters and Runescape, among many others, there should be something for all tastes! The pieces will go on the SpecialEffect ebay store in four batches up until the beginning of December.

London Games Festival director Kirsty Payne told us “Some of this artwork includes never-before seen pieces and every penny raised will go directly to SpecialEffect which is a unique charity doing whatever it takes to help everyone with disabilities to have a better quality of life through games, art and technology.”

SpecialEffect are not only helping to bring gaming joy to a huge number of people with disabilities by adapting modern gaming consoles and controllers, the advanced technology they are creating seems almost unreal and lifted directly from sci-fi movies and books! One of their biggest achievements has been the StarGaze+ project that provides the loan and support of cutting-edge tracking equipment. Operated purely by eye movement or brain stimulus, it gives users a vital means of ‘speaking’ to medical staff, family and carers. Seeing a young boy race cars on a big screen or play football video games with his dad (and win!), using only eyes is heartwarming fun, but also knowing this 'future' technology will transform the lives of people of all ages with the most severe disabilities by freeing them to communicate when they have no voice of their own is just one important example of why this auction is so very special.

Head over to the ebay store now to grab yourself a piece of video game artwork or see the SpecialEffect website for more info on the work they do.
