Resident Evil Revelations

Bring a towel... and maybe a shotgun!

Not content with creating one of the scariest experiences ever on 3DS, Capcom are bringing the Resident Evil™ Revelations experience to home consoles and PC this week.

Resident Evil Revelations

After the dusty disappointment of the tribal zombie run that was Resident Evil 5, Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS was everything that the survival horror franchise was famous for and a welcomed return to excellence. Limited ammo and weapons, plus some tricky puzzles once again were key features whilst the SS Queen Zenobia – a seemingly abandoned cruise ship hiding vicious enemies in the shadows of its twisting, dimly lit corridors – was one of the most memorable and perfect locations since Resident Evil’s Mansion House origins. Confined to the ship, the eerily empty casinos, quiet shopping malls and tight crew living quarters embedded a claustrophobic fear in me playing over the shoulder of Jill Valentine or Chris Redfield. This game looked spectacular on the 3DS whilst the story, that bridges the gap between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5, was packed with drama, surprises, conspiracy, revenge and of course the odd cheesy joke.

Now console and PC owners will be able to finally learn the truth about the T-Abyss virus, a marine virus derived from the deadly T-Virus, but will Jill and Chris be able to prevent one fifth of the Earth’s oceans being infected in time?

Resident Evil Revelations

To help get in the mood during the launch at the end of this week, Capcom are set to open a ‘blood’ filled swimming pool nestled in the shadow of London's Olympic stadium. Intestines will be used as lane markers and there is the offer of floats in the form of human torsos. There’s even going to be a diving board in the form of a ‘freshly killed human corpse’. Brain swimming pool caps will be provided to all those who wish to swim in the pool with blood splashed goggles also available for loan.

Resident Evil Revelations Pool Rules
The 16ft by 32ft pool is over one metre deep and contains an estimated 55,000 gallons of water (the equivalent of 11,327 individuals’ blood to fill the swimming pool). The blood red water has been created using a secret mixture of non-staining colorants specifically developed for the installation. Members of the public will be joined in the bloody red coloured water by terrifying sights like floating eyeballs complete with tendrils and drifting blood clots. The dreaded swimming-pool-floating-plaster-situation we remember from our school days will be made even more disgusting with the use of bloody bandages.

If not scary enough, Zombie lifeguards will be on duty ensuring safety and enforcing a unique set of zombie pool rules which includes the prohibition of brain eating, bleeding or limb shedding in the pool. The public will need to collect any commemorative game merchandise they wish to keep from the bottom of the diseased pool, which will also be littered with bottles of both the T-Virus and Anti-Virus vials.

Not surprisingly, the 200 weekend tickets that went live on Monday morning at 09:00 and were completely sold out by 09:02!

Due to popular demand, the pool will also be open this coming Friday with an additional 100 tickets up for grabs! Anyone wishing to swim in the Resident Evil Revelations pool will need to gain their free ticket in advance by visiting: www.residentevil.eventbrite.com where tickets will available from 09:00 on WEDNESDAY 22ND MAY. Good luck for those wanting to take a bloody dip.

Everyone else can get terrified when Resident Evil Revelations is released on Friday 24th May for X360, PS3, Wii U and PC.
