Well, now we have teamed up with Sidebar Films, a new London based film and TV production company set up by writer, director, producer Louis Melville and Ukrainian writer, director, producer Daria Malich, and we are launching a search for a SCI-FI screenplay that could realistically be put into production for a maximum budget of £250,000.
The search is open to all SCI-FI writers, both produced and aspiring to be produced.
Sidebar Films are open to submissions in all SCI-FI genres, their main criteria is that the scripts are original, something new, something "out of the box". Sidebar Films' ambition is to find a writer with a truly new individual voice, so no adaptations please.
All writers must already have a full feature script at shooting script stage of no less than 80 pages in length before they submit!!!
All writers submitting must be willing to sell their script to Sidebar Films for a mutually agreed fee if any and when a script is chosen.
All writers submitting must be willing that the script purchased by Sidebar Films be produced and directed by Sidebar Films - so no ambition to be the writer/director please.
HOW DO YOU APPLY.
In the first instance please submit a detailed treatment of no more than 12 pages of yours scripts by the 30th of November 2011 to daria@sidebarfilms.com
Writers can submit more than one project as long as they are willing to meet all of Sidebar Films criteria.
PLEASE NO FULL SCRIPTS OR HARD COPY OF TREATMENTS AT THIS STAGE.
WHAT WILL HAPPEN NEXT. All treatments will be read by Sidebar Films and a short list of projects they are interested in will be compiled, writers short listed will be contacted no later than the end of January 2012 directly by Sidebar Films and asked to submit a full shooting script.
Once Sidebar Films have had time to evaluate all the short listed scripts and convinced themselves that the scripts can be made for a maximum budget £250,000, the writer of their first choice script will be contacted and made an offer by Sidebar Films to purchase the the script with a view to Sidebar Films seeing it put into production.
