Ridley Scott Looks At Lo-Budget Sci-Fi

Ridley Scott
Following the recent success of Prometheus, Ridley Scott seems to have renewed his love for sci-fi, and now his production company Scott Free London, along with partners Orchard Media and Focus Features International, are set to produce six low budget science fiction and horror films over the next three years. The films will be produced in association with Northern Ireland Screen, shooting predominantly in Northern Ireland and using local local cast, crew, services and facilities. Focus Features International will handle worldwide sales.

Scott, best known for his stylish but bleak take on the future in films such as 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner' will executive produce the films. In a statement Scott said “Our target is to create a structure that enables filmmakers to push boundaries and to excite audiences. Our proposed model of filmmaking allows us to give directors the opportunity to really innovate through narrative, production techniques and distribution strategies.

Scott's next film is legal thriller 'The Counselor', starring Brad Pitt and Michael Fassbender, expected some time in 2013.
