Bring Back Mystery Science Theater 3000

We here at Sci-Fi-London have a huge fondness for the comedy classic series Mystery Science Theater 3000 (MST3K).  Running for nearly two hundred episodes and a feature film, the show's format of a guy and a pair of robots mocking terrible movies is simple but endlessly entertaining.

We have run all-nighters showing selections of the classic episodes for many years, including other projects from the creators such as Cinematic Titanic and Rifftrax.  We even had a successful crowdfunding campaign in 2014 to bring other as special guests two of the show's stars, Trace Beaulieu and Frank Conniff.

Well on the topic of crowdfuding, hurrah, Huzzah, and HAIKEEBA, as the show is making a comeback with the magic of Kickstarter!

The show's original's creator and host Joel Hodgson announced that, with the full rights to the show now owned by DVD distributor Shout Factory, MST3K now has the chance for a comeback.  The goal is to hopefully produce a new season of twelve episodes, at a total cost of $5.5 Million.

At the time of writing, the total stands at nearly $3.8 million, which is enough to make six episodes of the show, and the fact that other 31,000 people have backed is definitely sending the message that there's a demand and love for it.  The pledges for the campaign are pretty impressive, with top tiers getting set visits, chances to physically be part of, or have props from the episodes, and the lower tiers have all manner of goodies, including keyfobs, t-shirts, posters, downloads of the new episodes, downloads of classic MST3K episodes, posters signed by the cast, and much, much more!  Speaking of the cast, most of the new cast has been announced; Jonah Ray, of the Nerdist Podcast will be our new host, Jonah Heston.

Comedians Hampton Yount and Baron Vaughn are the new voices of Crow T. Robot and Tom Servo.  Geek Goddess Felicia Day (The Guild, Supernatural) will be the new Mad, Kinga Forrester, daughter of Dr. Clayton Forrester, and Patton Oswald (Agents of SHIELD, Ratatouille) will be sidekick TV's Son of TV's Frank.  Plus, Joel has hinted there are more surprises to come in the final week

So with only seven days to go, what are you waiting for, head over to BringBackMST3K.com to be part of what's currently the second most funded Film & Video Kickstarter ever, and claim some of those exclusive goodies before they're gone.

There's also a new Add-On store, where you can get all kinds of stuff, including downloading 87 classic episodes of MST3k for only $200, and that will help their overall total too.  Remember, if you also want to help, just Keep Circulating the URL!
