Another Earth

Rhoda Williams, a bright young woman accepted into MIT's astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. Composer John Burroughs has just reached the pinnacle of his profession, and is about to have a second child with his loving wife. Tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined.

Meanwhile, a duplicate Earth appears in the sky, and one of them is presented with the chance-of-a-lifetime opportunity to travel to the other Earth and embrace an alternative reality. Which new life will they choose?

This winner of the 2011 Sloan Award at Sundance Film Festival is a smart sci-fi filled with subtle surprises.

Mike Cahill's "Another Earth" is science fiction at its best, with outstanding credits across the board that demonstrate how much can be achieved in film even on a modest budget. Sundance can boast of another discovery and the birth of two more stars in its already crowded firmament. Review: Hollywood Reporter
